GRAND JUNCTION, CO ― ― GPD Global, a manufacturer of precision fluid dispensing systems for high-volume 24/7, low-volume/high-mix and R&D production, announces that its representative K I E GmbH will demonstrate its Max Series Dispense System with a PCD4H, high resolution, continuously volumetric dispense pump, and a MicroDot Valve in Booth 7:646 at the upcoming SMT/Hybrid/Packaging exhibition, scheduled to take place 8 – 10 May, 2012 at the Messezentrum in Nuremberg, Germany.
MAX Series dispensing systems offer Progressive Cavity Displacement SMT Dispensing with high accuracy, precision dispensing over a wide range of applications. The MAX Series platforms are ideal for LED Encapsulation, die attach, underfill, MEMS, micro-volume conductive adhesive and paste applications. Max Series equipped with Micro-volume technology enables dispensing for 0201 components as well as die attach adhesives. Further expanding the Max Series capabilities with the continuously volumetric PCD dispense pump yields outstanding results with underfills, encapsulation and LED applications. PCD dispense pumps deliver repeatable volumes throughout the potlife of the fluid without the need for calibration.
The GPD’s Max Series dispense system on display at SMT Nuremberg 2012 is designed with a PCD4H continuously volumetric dispense pump and a MicroDot Valve. The PCD4H is configured for high accuracy, high repeatability dispensing of low viscosity fluids such as LED encapsulation. The MicroDot is setup for small volume dispensing of solder paste, conductive adhesive and other semi viscous fluids.
To ensure uniform dispensing with phosphor filled fluids like LED encapsulation, the the PCD4 ’H’ Series is configured with a syringe mixer that will keep the encapsulant homogeneous throughout the dispense cycle. The adjustable speed of the syringe mixer and a rotating element designed to create turbulence ensures encapsulant homogeneity. Repeatability of volumetric dispense with the PCD4H is not affected by varying levels of fluid in the syringe or the change in viscosity over the pot life. Additionally, repeated calibration is not required during the pot life to maintain volumetric consistency. PCD4H is a continuously volumetric dispense pump that is not limited to a certain volume and does not require trial-and-error setup to reach a desired volume. One pump is able to dispense a full range of device sizes without any changeover.
GPD’s PCD Dispensing provides next-generation volumetric dispensing and is compatible with materials used in electronics assembly such as epoxies, thermal greases, underfills, oils, silicones and UV encapsulants, as well as materials outside of the electronics industry. PCD Technology is designed for GPD Global platforms and may be used with other robots or tabletop operations with an easy-to-use tabletop controller.
Air-free syringe changeover is made possible with ergonomically placed bleed ports, eliminating the need to purge to remove trapped air bubbles. Additionally, using GPD S Type Taper Tips will improve dispense performance by minimizing fluid pressure at the dispense tip and enhancing fluid flow. No drip or drool is present after the dispense process. The PCD4H has high flow rates and outstanding repeatability to improve yields for LED manufacturers.
PCD4 and PCD4H pumps are available on GPD Global Max, DS and Island Series robots, as well as interfacing with 3rd party systems.
