10.1. Adjusting dispense valve

Adjusting a dispense valve to achieve desired outcome may require several adjustment factors.

Procedure

  1. Flow rate - Turn the knurled knob, located on top of the valve.
A constant flow of material is the desired result, i.e., this is how precise application is achieved.
This adjusts the flow rate of the conformal coating material.
  2. Needle size - Select an appropriately sized needle for the valve.
    WARNINGWARNING
A new needle can lead to damaging the dispenser or the PCB.
Needles vary in length, so recalibrate each time a new needle is selected.
Needle size allows you to vary the coating width of an application.
  3. Dispense height - Set the height of the dispense valve, using the software interface, at approximately 1-2mm above the component.
This recommended height is close enough to form a continuous bead but not so close as to conflict with a deformed PCB board.
