Application Technician

Summary of Responsibilities

Application Technician works as a bridge between customers, and sales and engineering teams. He/she must be able to provide support and expertise to customers, test applications, and respond to customer requirements. Application Technician must be able to perform customer analysis and provide innovative solutions to common problems. He/she makes recommendations to the engineering team to satisfy application needs and develop application solutions.

Principal Duties

  1. Use GPD Global supplied equipment to conduct an evaluation of a customer-specific process with the end goal of demonstrating system capability to help the customer make a purchase decision.
  2. Work with customers in a professional and friendly manner; provide continuous customer support through all phases of an application project.
  3. Work with customers via telephone, email, and in-house customer visits to obtain details needed to complete the process successfully.
  4. Write application evaluation report.
  5. Prepare data for presentation.
  6. Work with engineering department on designs and test results.
  7. Domestic and international travel on short notice utilizing air travel and rental cars.
  8. Other duties as assigned from time to time by the General Manager or functional supervisor.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Candidate must be customer oriented & result driven.
  • Knowledge in computers, software, hardware, and computer-related communications.
  • Knowledge in using weight scale and calipers.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings.
  • Proficient in preparing a set of experiments to test new equipment designs.
  • Candidate must possess good presentation skills, quantitative skills, and good analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skill is required, both spoken and written.
  • Candidate must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally (up to 25% travel)
  • Successful candidate must be able to work a normal shift: Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day or more.
  • Help prepare and attend trade shows, as required, install and help demonstrate equipment to prospective customers.

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge in electrical wiring preferred. 
  • Must have extensive electro/mechanical experience working with computer-controlled mechanical systems or strong ability to learn it.
  • Knowledge with digital camera, video camera, and video editing preferred.
  • Degree in electronics preferred. Equivalent on-the-job experience in electronic troubleshooting is acceptable.

Service Technician

Summary of Responsibilities

Install new equipment (Automated Dispensing manufacturing systems) and repair or refurbish previously sold equipment to GPD Global specifications. Support customers in a professional and friendly manner. Conduct training seminars for customers and GPD Global personnel. Maintain demo equipment in good repair for sales demonstrations and trade shows. Help prepare for and attend trade shows, as necessary, to install and help demonstrate equipment to prospective customers.

Principal Duties

  1. Install, repair, and refurbish equipment to GPD Global specifications in the time frames established by the Service Manager. This requires domestic and international travel on short notice utilizing air travel and rental cars.
  2. Conduct training seminars and classes for customers and GPD Global personnel.
  3. Work with customers on a daily basis in person, email, and by telephone, in a professional and friendly manner. Project a good company image when dealing with customers.
  4. On a daily basis, accurately complete paper work such as expense reports, trip reports, service reports, time cards, etc. Input and/or update information as needed in computer system.
  5. Other duties as assigned from time to time by the Service Manager.

Working Conditions

  • Normal shift is Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day.
  • On call 24 hours per day with a 48 hour response time for customer on-site repairs.
  • Some daily heavy lifting – equipment (60 pounds).
  • Domestic and international travel.
  • Reports to Service Department Manager.
  • Supervises no one.

Qualifications

  • Degree in electronics preferred. Equivalent on-the-job experience in electronic troubleshooting is acceptable.
  • Must be proficient with computers, software, hardware, and computer related communications. PLC programing a plus.
  • Must have extensive electro/mechanical experience working with computer-controlled mechanical systems or strong ability.
  • Must have a valid Colorado driver's license (no red license) and a good driving record. Must be able to rent cars when traveling.
  • Must have a valid passport or the ability to obtain a valid passport, and must have the ability to obtain an FM3 (work permit for Mexico).
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with customers and coworkers in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Must provide the tools necessary to perform job duties.
  • Must be able to lift heavy equipment (60 pounds) on a daily basis.
  • Must be able and willing to travel domestically and internationally on short notice and work the hours necessary to meet Service Department and customer scheduling.
